We're excited about the smartphone platform - iPhone, Android and more. We're so excited we have a whole new division in the company developing for it.
Apple have sold over 50 million devices at last count - and the owners of these devices are avid users of the internet - on the device itself. So strong is Apple's penetration that it is said that 60% of all web browsing is done from an iPhone. But Google's Android will be closing the gap as more manufacturers develop devices that carry the Android operating system.
 With sales of smartphones set to exceed laptops within the next twelve months, there is a convergence going on, and a shift from desktop/laptop to smartphone.
With this in mind, it is important to cater for the smartphone site visitor. The smartphone screen is small, and whilst these devices are capable of viewing desktop designed websites, a lot of zooming in and out tends to take place.
Your site should offer a smartphone optimised version of your website. If not a complete version - at least a set of pages with all the relevant information about your company, designed so that the site sits neatly on the smartphone, even mirroring certain functions of the smartphone - such as navigation, giving the user a familiar feel.
